$20K bail is set for chiropractor
Hildreth is appealing felony conviction of molesting ex-employee

By Kristin Owens

An American Fork chiropractor convicted of sex abuse must post $20,000 bail to stay out of jail until his sentencing, which has been postponed.

Grant Joel Hildreth, 45, appeared in 4th District Court on Monday after missing a scheduled hearing Friday. A judge ordered Hildreth arrested Friday for failing to appear, but recalled the warrant after determining Hildreth missed court because of an attorney miscommunication about scheduling.

Prosecutor Alex Ludlow asked the judge Friday to incarcerate Hildreth until sentencing, citing a statute that requires those convicted of jailable offenses to be held unless they prove they are not a danger to society or a flight risk.

Judge David Mortensen ordered Hildreth to post cash or bond bail within a week in order to remain out of jail. Sentencing has been pushed back to May 30 while Adult Probation and Parole completes a pre-sentence report.
