ProVation Medical to Offer One-Click Access to Electronic Prescribing Solution

New Product Alliance Provides Instant Access to E-Prescribing Through Physician Documentation Software

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ProVation® Medical, part of Wolters Kluwer Health, announced today that it plans to make electronic prescribing available through its ProVation® MD software for multi-specialty procedure documentation. Starting this fall, the software will include embedded access to eRx NOW™, the free e-prescribing software created by Allscripts as part of the National ePrescribing Patient Safety InitiativeSM (NEPSISM). Access to eRx NOW will be delivered at no charge to new and current ProVation Medical clients.

The product integration is an expansion of an existing alliance between Wolters Kluwer Health, leading global provider of medical and drug information services and content to physicians, and Allscripts, the leading provider of clinical software, connectivity and information solutions that physicians use to improve healthcare. The two companies are working closely to integrate Wolters Kluwer’s Health’s customized clinical content into a number of Allscripts applications.

eRx NOW™ is an easy-to-use, web-based e-prescribing solution that is safe, secure, requires no downloading and no new hardware. It is being offered by Allscripts as part of NEPSI, which was developed in response to the high number of medical errors that plague the US healthcare system. The $100 million NEPSI initiative, led by Allscripts and Dell, is comprised of a coalition of healthcare, technology and provider companies dedicated to improving patient safety by offering free electronic prescribing to every physician in America.

“Ensuring patient safety and providing quality healthcare delivery are the fundamental principals of NEPSI’s eRx NOW and ProVation Medical’s software solutions for electronic physician and nursing procedure documentation,” said Arvind Subramanian, President & CEO, Wolters Kluwer Health Clinical Solutions and ProVation Medical. “This integration means that our clients now have access to the best in electronic documentation, coding and workflow as well as a safe and easy way to improve quality of care and automate the prescribing process.”
